Alexander Hamilton-(1757-1804)An american statesman best known for his fiscal policies settling the finances of the american revolution for his role as the principal author of Fedaralist papers,and advocacy of strong central government. He also helped write the constitution.

Robert Fulton-(1765-1815)An american inventor who built the first efficient steamboat inaugrating a new era of power driven navigation.

Peter Stuyvesant-(1610-1672)Last Dutch governer of colonial New York.

Margeret Cochran Corbin(1751-1800)Margaret Cochran Corbin was the first woman to fight in the revolutionary war. When her husband was killed at his cannon post, she took over and kept firing until she was wounded.

Jonas Salk(1914)Jonas Salk was a newyork city doctor who invented the first effective vaccine aginst polio. He later tried to find a cure for cancer.

William Bradford(?) William Bradford published the first newspaper in New York called,"The New York Gazette."

Shirley Chrisholm(1924) In 1968 Shirley Chrisholm became the first black woman to be elected in the house of representatives. Later on she was also the first woman to run for president.
